SPICY TOMATO SALAD (SALAT DUDU)

This simple tomato salad is known in Israel as “salat dudu.” Born on the menu of a famous fish restaurant there, it’s now a beloved recipe in many homes. While it’s great with fish, it goes well with many other foods, including meats and even just a piece of fresh bread dunked in the sauce. Our Preserved Lemon Paste adds a pop of lemony freshness to the salad. It’s also delicious with a tablespoon of our Signature Harissa mixed in. To peel the tomatoes easily, use a serrated peeler. If your jalapenõ pepper is very hot, you might not need a whole one, so be sure to taste the pepper and adjust accordingly.
